Kinetic light installation

Technique: microcontroller, linear unit, motor, bowl, mirror, theodolite stand, 3D-printed and aluminum structure, reflective surface, fan

Dimensions: 2m x 1m x 1.2m

This installation investigates the cosmic redshift, which provides clear evidence of the Universe's accelerating expansion. The redshift of light, detectable through astronomical instruments, results from the Doppler effect and the expansion of the Universe. As light from a distant celestial body travels through the expanding universe, its wavelength stretches, shifting its color towards red.

Using a mirror and liquid, the installation decomposes the light of an integrated lamp into the colors of the rainbow, which are then separated by a reflective metal cylinder. Through its cyclical movement, the structure projects specific color ranges sequentially, ultimately reflecting all colors of the generated rainbow, evoking the color shift of light traveling through the cosmos.
